2005
TWILIGHT RIDGE SYRAH
SUISUN
VALLEY
WINEMAKER'S
NOTES:
Aromas of violets and spice lead to rich blackberry
and dark cherry flavors with hints of chocolate and
pepper. This is a supple and aromatic wine balancing
soft tannins, ripe fruit, and a lingering finish.
APPELLATION:
Suisun
Valley (Solano County) is not a well-known appellation --
yet -- but the favorable climate and soils have generated
a great deal of vineyard development in recent years, reflecting
a rare combination of quality and value.
VINEYARDS:
The grapes were from two separate blocks, with two different
clones, though both are in bench land near Suisun Creek.
Cool marine air in the evenings moderates the warm
daytime temperatures, allowing long hang times for the grapes
and surprising complexity for such young vines.
VINTAGE:
These grapes were
the last picked in the 2005 harvest, in mid-October. The
longer hang time and moderate yields contributed to the
wine's complexity and structure.
COMPOSITION:
Syrah 89%, Zinfandel 10%, Peite Sirah 1%, all from Suisun
Valley
